Deepening Vocation Discernment
The Province of Benin of the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) joyfully concluded a 5-day retreat for aspirants today, held in the peaceful setting of Hevié, Benin. With the theme: “Knowing oneself to better discern Christ’s call”. The retreat provided a grace-filled space for the young women discerning a possible call to religious life.
Throughout the retreat, the aspirants were guided through moments of personal reflection, communal prayer, sharing of life experiences, and spiritual accompaniment. The theme encouraged each participant to embark on an inner journey — learning to understand herself more deeply in order to recognize how Christ may be calling her to live a life of love, service, and mission.
The sisters accompanying the retreat created a nurturing and welcoming environment where the aspirants could explore their questions, deepen their faith, and grow in confidence about God’s presence in their lives. The days were marked by Eucharistic celebrations, meditative silence, interactive sessions, and joyful moments of community life.
As the retreat comes to a close, we give thanks to God for the openness and generosity of these young women who are seeking to listen to God’s voice. We also express our deep gratitude to all the Sisters who facilitated and supported the retreat with prayer, presence, and love.
Let us continue to accompany these aspirants in prayer, that they may remain faithful to the movements of the Holy Spirit and walk with courage and peace as they discern the path Christ is inviting them to follow.
