Global Call to Action Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Today, 26th June 2025, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) join voices around the world in raising awareness and promoting a society free from the harm caused by drugs and criminal trafficking.
As missionaries committed to justice, peace, and the dignity of creation, the OLA Sisters actively engage in initiatives that address the root causes and consequences of drug abuse. Through education, pastoral care, and advocacy, they work in communities across Africa, Europe, and Latin America to promote healthier, safer environments—especially for women, youth, and vulnerable adults.
In schools, parishes, and social outreach centres, OLA Sisters offer programs on drug prevention, support for those in recovery, and opportunities for at-risk individuals to build meaningful and self-sustaining lives. They collaborate with local health workers, NGOs, and law enforcement to provide holistic care and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing both demand and supply.
In line with this year’s theme of “Support. Don’t Punish,” the Sisters call for a compassionate, human-centered approach that focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment. As women of hope and justice, they continue to pray, act, and advocate for a world where every life is valued and protected from exploitation.
Together, let us renew our commitment to peace, justice, and the safeguarding of human dignity.
